Thursdays at noon, starting 9/18/14
I am pleased to announce that after a long recovery from rotator cuff repair, I will be returning to teaching yoga at Sangha Yoga Collective on September 18. On many levels, my injury has been my teacher. I hope to bring to you an enhanced knowledge of shoulder alignment, and an appreciation of the tools yoga may afford for dealing with life’s little surprises.
I am trying something new this fall, a one-hour noontime class I’m calling “Noontime Nourish,” for nine Thursdays beginning September 25, with a free preview on the 18th. The idea is that we’d practice some yoga at noon, and then whoever was available could hang around with a brown bag lunch to talk about yoga philosophy, Ayurveda, or conscious eating.
Personally, I always find Thursdays to be the most difficult day of the week to get through. It has all of the stress of Friday with none of the relief of looking forward to the weekend. What a great day to offer respite in the middle of the day.
For all the details please see this lovely postcard provided courtesy Sangha: Noontime Nourish Postcard.

This is the pose in which I landed when I slipped on snow and fell on Monday, February 3. A trip to the ER kept me from teaching class at Sangha Yoga Collective that night. I am happy to report nothing broken. I will need to rehabilitate my right shoulder some: my laptop bag had driven my right arm into the shoulder socket, causing some pain, weakness and limited range of motion. But this will not keep me from teaching my regularly scheduled classes, or the Free/By Donation Community Class on Sunday, February 16. I hope to see you then, and/or at my regularly scheduled class!

Richard teaching yoga at Boardinghouse Park in Lowell, through Sangha Yoga Collective’s “Yoga in the Park” this summer.
I’ll be returning to Sangha Yoga Collective on Market Street in Lowell this Fall for a six-week Aligned Flow series. Join me beginning on Monday, September 9 at 6 pm. Teaching at the University as I do, the start of the academic year is always like “New Year’s” to me. For the first class we’ll be looking at foundations of our poses, and the meaning in yoga philosophy of the number 9—meeting as we are on 9/9. I’ll be honoring the studio’s Collective Cards. Also, if you sign up for the six-week series ($72), you can save even more.
Please also join us at Sangha’s Fall Open House on September 15 from 10-5 pm. I’ll be giving a free demonstration class during the Open House.
I’m pleased to be continuing at Sangaha, a sweet oasis in downtown Lowell. As a student of Anusara Yoga, trained by a former Certified Anusara instructor, I’m also excited to be bringing an alignment-based flow yoga to the area. All life is flow, and alignment brings wisdom to our participation in it.

Yoga in the Park, Monday, July 15
This spring I was grateful to have taught several Sunday afternoon Community Classes at Sangha Yoga Collective. Last Monday, Sangha moved these community classes outdoors to Boardinghouse Park for free Yoga in the Park.* As you can see from the photo above, my colleague Isla led us in a beautifully cooling and grounding practice. This week, 7/22, I’ll be teaching. The Full Buck Moon (also Thunder Moon) falls on Monday. In India, this Full Moon is celebrated as Guru Purnima, which honors our teachers and mentors. I’m really excited to be honoring my teachers on such an auspicious day, filled with imagery of darkness and light.
